Simple Costumes

Cover a bra as described in the cabaret style section. Sew on a coin or a beaded fringe necklace or couple of anklets as decoration. You could alternatively sew a few beaded strands of fringe in the centre rather than doing rows and rows of it. You can make (or buy) a simple straight or sarong-style skirt, and wear it with a coin belt or hip scarf. This will look nice if your base fabric is good quality. It helps if the fabric is something really shiny, or decorated with sequins, which will give the costume more punch.

In the pictures below, Alya has a simple black costume with holographic silver pinstripes, with the coin necklace attached to the top, and a coin belt over a straight skirt. My costume has metallic mesh sewn onto it with a few chains with coins attached as a stomach drape. Kahlila's costume only has a few coins sprinked here and there, because the base fabric, metallic tiger stripe, is so shiny and dramatic that we didn't need to add much to it.
