Steampunk Bellydance

Zahira is a pioneer of Steampunk Bellydance in Canada. Her love for the music of Abney Park and the whole Steampunk genre inspired her to begin to fuse the traditional Bellydance movements, the innovative, strong, modern language of Tribal Fusion, the musical concepts of Steampunk and a taste of burlesque. Zahira delighted and surprised audiences with her early solo explorations in this genre. Mirage enthusiastically joined The Airship Pirate Project, Zahira's first Steampunk Bellydance vision for a large group. Zahira then began the Steam Fusions weekly class at Dragonfly Bellydance Studio, an exploratory, experimental class which encourages the fantasy side of bellydance, character development and storytelling. She continues to develop and explore this unique new genre of fusion through solo performances, teaching, and creating Steampunk Bellydance group pieces for Mirage and for the Dragonfly Student Troupe.
